Winter Stations is an international design competition held in Toronto, Canada. The winds and snow, the vastness of Lake Ontario, and the shoreline against Toronto’s skyline have captured imaginations worldwide to explore new visions of art in public space. The lifeguard stands (dormant in winter) serve as visual anchor points for each installation. Every year, the exhibition draws thousands of visitors, bringing creativity, community, and colour to the city’s Woodbine and Kew beaches in the coldest months.

A star has fallen from the sky, its brilliance scattered across a frozen shore!
Capturing the fragile threshold between radiance and vanishing. Afterlight is a mirage that questions how light endures beyond form. The installation
reveals its dual nature: from one perspective, a precise silhouette of a star; from another, a shifting field of translucent red, diffusing and dissolving as
the viewer moves.
This winterstation stands as an apparition rendered in architecture: a constellation of red polycarbonate planes, 16 millimetres thin and seemingly
weightless.
In Afterlight, solidity gives way to illusion. What seems tangible flickers into uncertainty; what appears distant suddenly feels near. The installation
becomes both object and echo, a lingering trace of something celestial, reimagined on earth as light made visible.
